vbd_write.jpgHello, I am a new user of SOUP VDB. I have created the node "BE_VDBWrite1" and pointed to an external folder. How do I "trigger" to generate and save   the vdb file?  Thanks.

Connect VDb output in BE_VDBWrite to VDB Input in BE_Visualize.To record a sequence files use name_file.####.vdb and press play.

Thanks. It works! A separate question. how do you check the "grid resolution", and "voxel size" info on an existing vdb? I tried "BE_VDBAttributeFromVDB1" but do not know how to display the values?

Use BE_ArnoldRender node.

Yes. I created the BE_ArnoldRender node and feed in the vdb. But I can not see the voxel info in the attribute editor? or maybe the info is displayed in other place?  I just want to know the grid resolution, and the voxel size of the existing vdb. Thanks!  sc-2.jpg

I was wondering if you can read the voxel and dim info from this VDB I attached? I tried your method and it works for VDB generated within Maya, and for some existing external VDBs. However, my specific VDB does not show info.  I guess my VDB might miss a grid name, or it is not in a right vector format? Anyway, I attached the VDB here. I would be really appreciated if you can show me how to extract data out.  here is the file. Thanks! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hsgMJwZRE5w3M-AANTvAoOhZOC0qT8um/view?usp=sharing s1.jpg

I looked your vdb file.
the problem is that the grid doesn't have a name
what version of Maya  you use I will give you a fix

thanks for bug report

Thank you. The vdb was made in another program outside Maya, for snow effects. I was hoping be able to detect its voxel settings and dimention. I am using Maya 2019.

replace BE_OpenVDB.mll in ovdb\plug-ins\maya2019_win
BE_VDBArnoldRender now show info if grid no name and you can use BE_VDBRename node
for rename grid
if grid no name BE_VDBRename node set name = CustomName + _ + number grid in vdb.

Thanks. I have updated the mll. Still not working. What do you mean "number grid in vdb"?  I found if the original vdb has a grid name, then I can rename it. If it does not have a name, the "Source" display as "*", then I can not rename it.sc5.jpg

it must be so
[46vR9i6]
and
[46vRf60]

_ + grid number in vdb, added for if more than one grid does not have a name
[46vRjSR]

check if it all works?

still not working. would you please take a look at my Maya nodes attached? The vdb file is still the old one online. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hsgMJwZRE5w3M-AANTvAoOhZOC0qT8um/view?usp=sharing
