I moved the file to that folder and I can load the plug-in, but when I run the script I get

yes w/o = without :) and that didn't work for me I sourced all the scripts, ran scripts but no luck yet. Still get the same error once I run the blackbodyUI();

I think its a pymel issue, b/c this is the first time I installed it and I got PyMEL 1.0.3 then had someone help me by adding the 2013 supprot folder but I'm not sure that was all there was needed to change. I'm don't like the way PyMEL installs. I don't know how to check the install, I can't uninstall, and I don't know how to update.

well if it's a particle or an expression on a locator you can do that math mag(current world position - previous world position)  or something like that. I didn't look it up just trying to remember what I did before.

Install question
Does pymel need to be installed before SOuP will work now? I got pymel errors until I installed it. If this is the case we need to update the wiki and should link to it in the tools page.

awesome! That was all I needed. Worked, or I should say loaded w/o error. Now on to testing it :D Thanks a lot!

I'm going to get back into SOuP once I get it installed on my new computer at work. (Some issues there) I am finally at a place with 2013.5 so I'll be able to get back into updating the wiki and docs and try to get other people on the wiki to help too.

oh yeah I get this problem when I install SOuP and crash maya before closing normally. Sometimes when I install overtop of an old SOuP too. You have to delete the shelf and re-load it. Re-load it with the soup.mel like in the wiki docs.

No I can't think of the missing connection of transfering the rgb or alpha to point position? 

I didn't really understand this "By setting it to some world position and reading the .outColor attribute we get the color value at that point."

can it be done. I've tried a few things nothing works. 

Test spotty nebula preset (no density, vel anything dynamic) 
can we get points where they is density based on the texture/opacity graph? I don't think so. 
I'm trying to make a galaxy map, and I need natural clumping stars. I was thinking itd be neat to mix a fluid shader with that for both color and added detail. But can it be done? Not sure. I tried a few things, but nothing to show for it yet. 

Closest thing was convert fluids to poly scatter on that which is ok but pretty even across the surface.
