First commercial version of SOuP.
Over the next few weeks and months we will spend time on providing high-quality video tutorials, documentation and support.

ShortestPath tool is radical Peter! I love the smartConnect tool too even though Apple and VP2 is pretty weak right now.

Thanks.

I need to step up the OSX effort.
Too bad Apple dropped all things Pro from their plans long ago. This requires extra effort on whoever supports OSX to keep things on par with Win/Lin.

Thank you very much for peter's update again. I like the commercial version of the soup, how can I get the commercial version of the soup download address? Because now can not wait for the tools page. Please peter to a new download address, thank you!
Besides, how do i buy commercial soup? Is how to pay. Can I use China's payment to pay? If I purchased a soup license, can I use it on several computers?

Thanks  Peter !!!

Hi ZC,

the SOuP licensing scheme fallows all adopted standards. I am relying on the RLM licensing software which is a FLEXLEM derivative.

At this point i offer two types of standard licenses:
- nodelocked (standalone) uncounted license can be used on a single workstation. The license is issued based on the HostId (MAC address) of the computer. You can start as many instances of SOuP as you want in parallel (multiple Maya sessions with SOuP loaded). Check the instructions on the tools page and the readme.txt file included in the downloadable archive.
- floating (network) license requires you to run the RLM server within your local network. It can provide licenses for multiple workstations connected to the same local network.

Hope this makes sense.

Traditionally i and my associates never had the time/incentive to properly support the project. As a result documentation is virtually non-existent, video tutorials are lacking and the quality is low, the support is mostly through the forums, etc.
The idea behind commercial SOuP is to balance it out and address the issues head on.

I have the feeling that a local cache or proxy between the soup-dev web host and you is causing you trouble.
Go to http://www.soup-dev.com and then press CTRL+F5 in the web browser. That should fix it.

Hey Peter,

Just wondering how the new commercial version of soup works. If we are using an older version of soup will we now have to buy the commercial license to continue using soup? or can we continue using the other versions without having to get the commercial license. If we have to update and buy the licenses is there a grace period in which we can do that? Just wondering because I'm sure it will take a few days to get the studio to approve it.

thank you,
Jordan

Thank Peter,
ok I have a question about the licenses. So the way that Im reading this work is for periods of times, so if I get the 3 month license after that my license expired? then I have to pay again? Im a little bit confused about the prices.

Sounds like a great update Peter!

Regarding licensing... Does mayabatch require a full license of soup? Would be a shame to be forced to cache everything soupish before throwing it on the renderfarm😎

Thanks.
Just to confirm: non-interactive (batch, mayapy) licenses are free.

@rolfcopter
I would encourage you to get the commercial version of the plugin in order to accelerate our upcoming effort behind it. This will ultimately have a positive impact on you at the end.
I don't plan to enforce policies based on the new software license. We are here to run a marathon, but not a sprint. If you know what i mean.
SOuP (and now OVDB too) have always been about supporting and sharing. Our modus operandi stays the same going forward. :)

@sepu
The licensing scheme is subscription based.
You will have to renew your license before it expires if you still need to use SOuP.

Peter, one more thing so if I get the license for 3 month and lets say that I have Soup V3 will the license still work after that 3 month for that particular version or my project will be locked until I get a new subscription again?

I can download vdb. But I always have no response when downloading soup. When I click the download button, only a page pops up, it prompts "Not Found [CFN # 0005]".

I tried a variety of ways, and finally can not download soup :(
