Hey everyone! I'm trying to increase my flexibility with Maya Fluids so I can render them with Redshift, and I've come up on a snag with the installation of Besha's OpenVDB.

I've followed the install tutorial on Besha's YouTube page to the letter until the Arnold section, yet for some reason Maya output's this error every time I try to load the BE_OpenVDB plugin:

// Error: line 1: Unable to dynamically load : C:/Program Files/Autodesk/VDB_2016/plug-ins/BE_OpenVDB.mll
The specified module could not be found.
# Error: pymel : Failed to get controlCommand list from BE_OpenVDB #
# Error: pymel : Failed to get modelEditorCommand list from BE_OpenVDB #
# Error: pymel : Failed to get command list from BE_OpenVDB #
# Error: pymel : Failed to get constraintCommand list from BE_OpenVDB #
# Error: pymel.core : Failed to get depend nodes list from BE_OpenVDB #
// Error: line 1: The specified module could not be found.
 (BE_OpenVDB) //

The shelf also only displays one icon instead of the multiple VDB logo's. Is all of this due to the Arnold integration (which I don't own)? Or is it that there is a different install process for 2016 than the new 2016.5? (I'm using Ext 1 SP6) I've only used content from the 2016 archive, I haven't tried 2016.5 yet. Thanks!

I've tried this with both 2016 and 2016.5, and it still doesn't work. I also don't get the typical multi-icon layout that used to exist, it's just the single drop-down icon.

I've even tried placing the mod file in the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2016(.5)\modules directory, renamed it to BE_OpenVDB.mod and changed the contents to:
+ BE_OpenVDB 1.0 C:\Program Files\Autodesk\OpenVDB\maya2016(.5)\

Is there an issue with this release, or am I doing something drastically wrong?

Your post is a little unclear to me, when you say "until the Arnold section" does that mean you didn't install mtoa? Because I believe that's required for the vdb plug to work and I also believe it says so in the tutorials. I never got it to work without it anyway.

Just register a free account on solidangle website and download the free watermarked trial. That will be enough for bevdbs dependencies.

If you sis install mtoa already I apologize, I misunderstood. If not give it a go and let us know if it works.

Thanks for the reply Izo! I actually got everything working with some help from the Redshift forum. I was just being a dunce with installation, and never had the ai.dll file. I didn't need MtoA, but when I installed the SDK I think it added itself into the 2016.5/modules directory in my Documents.

I ended up copying all of the contents into the root directory for each Maya version, instead of linking them to a different folder. Sorry for not updating this post, I completely forgot once I started playing around with the VDB's :)
