Hi,

Some weeks ago, I reported a problem I met with SOuP (on CGTalk) : I cannot manage to accumulate a polySmooth ( with a group Node ) and a "weigth/color network" ( attributeTransfer -> arrayDataContainer -> arrayToPointColor ).
I get a "

// Warning: arrayDataContainer1: Length of input array varies. Result may be unpredictable. // "

I undestand that the topology of my "plane" is changing, so vertex number change too...Aikiman told me to "invert" the color network and the polySmooth. But In fact, the result is different if I invert the 2 networks...So I need to smooth my "plane" before coloring it...

Any new ideas on this ?

thx

It looks like there is a problem with this board. I cannot see attached files to your message.

Not sure...I think everyone has the privilege to upload. Maximum upload is 100KB, file types bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png rtf txt zip.
Shall I alter these?

Hmmm...Weird.
I uploaded the file 2 times ( zip file, less than 100KB I guess), no error messages...
Will try tomorrow ( maybe from a windows workstation ? )

Last try to attach the file ( zip, 8.86kb, named accuProblem.ma_1.zip )

Upload done, I actually see the file, as I saw it last time I uploaded it...
Hope it will not "vanish"...

Do you see it ?

Thx Peter

The "Result may be unpredictable" is gone ok.
But the main problem is still there. You had to smooth the plane AFTER coloring it.
So the vertex are colored based on the initial plane resolution then it is smoothed.
With this method I can't have a precise control over the coloration shape. It strongly depends on the initial plane resolution -> low resolution = low precision over the colored shapes even if it is smoothed...

I need to smooth the mesh THEN color the vertex of the newly created plane. Do you follow me ? Maybe it's just not possible...

Sorry for my english, it's difficult to explain such things ;)

sounds like the same old problem that wont go away but its the way Maya does things. One process changes the IDs so the next process wont evaluate properly.

Yes this is it...In fact I thought a "procedural workflow" ( SOuP ) could help :)
Doing this in Houdini is pretty easy...
