From the (updated) examples page:

Using texture based distribution we can precisely shape the scattered points in many different ways, including "boolean" operations from multiple projection planes, textures and UV Sets.
As you may know already the scatter node can be used to directly drive particles, geometry instancers and procedural shatter nodes.
With the texture based distribution we gain precise control over the scattered points and in this way over the mentioned above systems.

projections

booleans with projections

projections + texture (grid in this case)

boolean projections + textures (grid+checker textures)

uv based distribution + textures (noise texture)

Basically we can pretty much "model" with scattered points :)

SOuP archive is also updated to include the new build.

woot! Good work, I feel scatter node vid. pt 2 coming on :)

This could be really cool with the shatter node!

Hehe...I think you made enough projection plane possibilities :)

this error pops up when trying to create a projection node through scatter window.

# Error: NameError: name 'soup' is not defined

it wont create the node, any ideas or am I screwing up?

Actually just found out the plugin wont load.

OSX 10.5, I will keep trying.

Will investigate shortly.

Just to re-iterate, I can actually run nodes through the command line, I just get that error on plugin loading and the shelf doesnt work.

now Ive lost my shelf altogether, have I missed something during installation?
I replaced soup.mel in my shelves directory, plugin seems to load but throws up error above. I can create nodes on the command line still.

Some embedded resources go south. This happened a while ago on Windows as far as i remember. Usually i keep an eye on this, but maybe it slipped through the filters this time around.
Will check soon ...
