This new version uses openvdb 4.0.2, but in a 3.0 compatible mode.

new
====

BE_fbmNoise
Float and vector noise (perlin, simplex, sparse convolution, worley and alligator)

BE_VDBGasSolver
Gas solver for the simulation of smoke.

BE_VDBVolumeTrail
For visualizing, rendering and inspecting velocity volumes.

BE_VDBToMayaFluid
Rebuilt from scratch. Much faster now. Old scenes need to be manually updated by recreating and reconnecting the node.

Arnold translator for BE_VDBVolumeTrailNode for rendering of curves.

Arnold BE_OpenVDBTranslators
Contains BE_VDBArnoldRender, BE_VDBPointsRender and BE_VDBVolumeTrail nodes.
BE_VDBPointsRenderTranslator and BE_VDBArnoldRenderTranslator have been removed.

updated
=======

BE_VDBFill
Added Points Bounds mode and BBoxMin and BBoxMax parameters.

BE_VDBAdvectPoints
Added Trails and Output Streamlines.

for BE_VDBArnoldRender
Removed LoadatInit and DisableRayExtents parameters.

BE_VDBWrite
Added Compression mode.

OpenVDB shelf have been removed in favor of the SOuP/OVDB menu.

fixed
====

BE_VDBFromMayaFluid now create correct velocity grid.
BE_VDBToMayaFluid now works in Parallel mode maya no crash.
BE_VDBArnoldRender maya crash if use custom shader in instancer.
BE_VDBArnoldRender, BE_VDBPointsRender and BE_VDBVisualize if use some custom locators break display in opengl core profile mode (credit goes to Julien Silvestre for his assistance on this one).

IMPORTANT !
===========

Please remove BE_VDBPointsRenderTranslator, BE_VDBArnoldRenderTranslator and shelf_OpenVdb.mel if you used previous installations of the OVDB plug-in.

BE_VDBGasSolver is awesome! !

But it seems easier to crash Maya. When I use GasSolver's cache, it is still very slow.

Will the vdb and soup help documentation come out?

Thanks!

I will let Besha comment on the GasSolver stability.
It looks fine on my linux battlestation.

SOuP documentation is actually already on our host, but i need to do one final pass to fill in some gaps before we go online with it. I keep getting distracted with coding new, or improving existing stuff, instead of doing that final pass.
One more SOuP update and after that will be docs time for me.

Hi! Peter,
Will vdb help documentation? I found that learning vdb is more difficult than learning soup. Vdb has a lot of professional terms, not as easy to understand as soup. I used to look at the hudini vdb help documentation to learn vdb. If vdb can write help documentation as soon as possible, it would be great!

In addition, my node editor closes the add mode and the soup can force nodes to be added to the node editor. This design is awesome! . However, vdb cannot. Can vdb force add nodes to the node editor like soup?

Thanks!

OVDB like any other software comes with its set of semantics. Once you get familiar with them, it becomes the regular thing.
Right now we don't have documentation going, but you can look-up the ovdb home page and Houdini's documentation for references.

When it comes down to automating the creation of nodal graphs, we will try this first in SOuP and depends on how successful the solution is, we will expand to OVDB.
There is a chance we stumble on a good enough solution that will handle both cases (and more) at once.
But, let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
One step at a time.
🙂

Bruce Lee. Thanks for bug report.
I already found and fixed.
I'll try to release a fix version in next week.

What to do now to avoid the fall of Maya
1.Use cache
2.If no use cache.Need to EndFrame in TimeSettings in BE_VDBGasSolver
was greater than or equal to the end frame in the timeline

example
Maya Time Line = 1-120 and
BE_VDBGasSolver StartFrame = 1 EndFrame = 120 (maya no crash)

Maya Time Line = 1-120 and
BE_VDBGasSolver StartFrame = 1 EndFrame = 110 (maya crash)

I will try today or tomorrow to record video about new nodes

Thanks Besha!
I am a bit curious. Is GasSolver's code developed by vdb's api? Never before seen VDB's fireworks solver.

When I opened and used the cache, I found that the speed was the same as not opening the cache. The cache was used, and it was still being solved. The cached data in memory should be fast. Or is it my computer problem?

Does GasSolver have plans to use GPU solutions in the future? It is easy to use. I hope to increase the speed of solving as much as possible. If you can solve the GPU, I believe that everyone will like GasSolver.

Turnkey solutions in openvdb api is not present,but there is PoissonSolver.h for project non-divergent and VolumeAdvect.h for advection float and vector grids

Now use cache slow works, this need only for rendering.If you do not export to vdb file and send directly to the render for motion blur need the previous frame.

This is part of my future plans.
