It is strange. How can I check if the vdb cache is wrong ?
Because in my viewport it seems to be correct ?

Do you have a screenshot of what you see ?

how do you import the cache ?

I'm still wondering if there is no bug in my BE_VDBArnoldRenderShape. There is no inputVdb connection on this node.

Thx,

Here is a frame from my houdini cache

As I said in the preview message, I see the vdb cache in my viewport but I can't render it with arnold.

And for my other question, Is it possible that there is a missing input connection for the BE_VDBArnnoldRender node ?

Thanks

here is what I have

and of course that would render in mtoa
you need
put in BE_VDBArnoldRenderTranslator C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2016\extensions
put in aiBE_VDBArnoldRender C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2016\shaders
and replace volume_openvdb in C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2016\procedurals in my volume_openvdb

and install microsoft visual c++ redistributable 2012 x64

today, I checked on Windows 10 is working fine

Hi, first of all thx for the awsome work you did !

Unfortunatelly and even after followed the video installation, changed the sytem variables path, installed microsoft visual c++ redistributable 2012 x64 and Arnold SDK core 4.2.13.0 (my CPU supports (at least) SSE4.2 instructions) it still doesn't work on W10 and Maya 2016 Ext1 + SP6.
Always returns this message --> Error: couldn't find the specified procedure (BE_OpenVDB)

Maybe I'm doing something wrong...
But it works fine on W7 BTW.
Thx in advance

Hey MOAB, I've been getting similar behavior but it doesn't seem to be related to W10 or a specific Maya version. Right now I cannot load BE_OpenVDB.mll in 2016.5 or 2017 on this W10 computer but it worked on the same machine just a few days ago. On another W10 machine it works in both Maya versions. Earlier this year it worked on W8.1 but not on W10. Puzzled, would like to find out what is the key difference.

EDIT:

Everything works now.

(Using updated BE_ArnoldRender provided by Besha in this thread)

2016 mtoa 1.3.1.0

Nice work Besha! <3

Me too limeforce, when I installed W10 it worked 2-3 days and after that it gave me the error message mentionned above. Maybe it's related to a Windows Update... Don't really know !
But it's really annoying, I'm currently writing tools using openVDB and I would like to release them but I can't say : "Ok maybe it will work on your windows version or maybe it won't work"

Is there a difference installing OpenVDB on Linux compared to Windows? I've done it verbatim as I would on W10, with the minor difference of using BE_OpenVDB.so and libai.so. Other than that it's the same, but I keep getting the following error:

Code:

// Error: line 1: Unable to dynamically load : /usr/autodesk/maya2016.5/bin/plug-ins/BE_OpenVDB.so
libai.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory //
// Error: line 1: libai.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (BE_OpenVDB) //

The libai.so is currently residing in /usr/autodesk/maya2016.5/bin/
My .mod file reads as:

Code:

+ maya2016.5 1.0 /usr/autodesk/OpenVDB/maya2016.5

Running on:
CentOS 7.2
Maya 2016.5
Arnold SDK 4.2.15.1

hello,besha1! I installed openVDB for Maya2016 window, I can't find a "VDB input" in  BE_VDBArnoldRender Node.  Thanks!

same with SeB,and "put in BE_VDBArnoldRenderTranslator C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2016\extensions
put in aiBE_VDBArnoldRender C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2016\shaders
and replace volume_openvdb in C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2016\procedurals in my volume_openvdb".
still not working.

After using the attachements from  besha1     #32

the "VDB input" issue has been solved. Great!

thanks,besha1!

Today,I checked with BE_VDBfromMayaFluid node, and there is only 5 input--"current time","caching","Frozen","Is Historica","Node state".
then, don't know how to connect fluidshape with BE_VDBfromMayaFluid node. I'm expecting a "point input" like
BE_VDBfromParticles.
 Someone can explain?TKS!

I too am experiencing the "specified procedure could not be found (BE_OpenVDB)" error with Windows 10. I would be guessing it had to do with the somewhat recent windows update, as that introduced several system-wide problems with software suddenly not working.
