I don't know if you noticed this but Autodesk open sourced something interesting recently. Check it out:

https://github.com/Autodesk/animx

There you can find methods for dealing with animation curves, vectors, quaternions, matrices, and many others.
I believe this have been extracted from Maya's core code base, or at least is very close to it.
